After install / patching was done, I used the Steam option to prevent the game from updating. I uninstalled completely, deleted old files, and had Steam reinstall the game again. I kept on getting notification that Steam updated Oblivion GOTY version. Then after a while freezeups and CTDs started occuring. I've installed various mods: Hi-res textures, Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, Mart's Monster Mod, HGEC, etc.Īfter installing all the mods, the game did work fine.
Simply put, Steam hates mods, at least for that game. However, I did try Oblivion with Steam, and I do have some huge problems with that combination.
